| K eep the music playing. Piracy kills the artist, kills the music, kills the industry. That is the simple message that Harare animator, producer and creative spirit, Carl Joshua Ncube hopes to send out when he moves from his house to live out on Harare's First Street, starting this afternoon. Speaking to The Zimbo Jam yesterday, Carl said that he was disappointed by how the issue of music piracy was not being taken seriously in Zimbabwe. “We say we are fighting piracy,” he said, “but anywhere you go on the streets and in flea markets you will find tonnes of pirated CDs.” He has decided to take it upon himself to be change he wants to see- starting by sacrificing the comfort of his own lodgings to drive the message home that piracy impoverishes artists. Carl is holding a press conference in Harare this afternoon (12 March 2010) to explain his actions. After that, he will move straight to First Street where he will live until end of day Thursday next week (18 March). He will have not a single cent on him, not a change of clothes, not a supply of food. Zilch- save for his sleeping bag and his phone. “I want to survive on the street.
