In 2007, the top leadership of , MDC was brutally assaulted by police in , High Fields at a prayer meeting that had been called by Save Zimbabwe Campaign. , March 2008 saw , Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai emerging as the winner of the presidential poll but was robbed through electoral rigging leading to a bloody election rerun. In March 2009, , Prime Minister Tsvangirai lost his wife through a tragic accident plunging the nation into mourning. The 6 th of March marked the 1st anniversary of the death of Susan Nyaradzo Tsvangirai.
